Holtz Children's Hospital

In 1994, Rolando Rodriguez championed the identification, development and marketing of Holtz Children’s Hospital in response to the overwhelming need to enhance specialized services for the children of South Florida. At the time, Jackson Memorial’s extensive pediatric services were spread throughout the medical campus, but had no cohesive center of pediatric service, no identifiable pediatric brand, and no funds to expand.

Rolando led and developed the concept for a centralized children's hospital at Jackson, originally named Jackson Children’s Hospital. He then led a premier foundation board on a quest to raise over $15 million to centralize, modernize and brand the hospital, highlighted by a generous $6 million gift from the Fana Holtz Foundation. Holtz is now one of the premier pediatric hospitals in the country, with numerous awards and recognitions for its specialty services, newborn intensive care unit, transplant programs, and much more.
